list — Claude Code command: see every hookify rule
Prints every hookify rule configured in the project — name, event, pattern, file and whether it is enabled. Handy once rules pile up and you lose track of them.
/plugin install hookify@claude-plugins-officialWhat list does
The list command walks the .claude/hookify.*.local.md files, reads each one and pulls name, enabled, event and pattern out of the frontmatter. Results land in a table with a rule count underneath, then a short block per rule showing a message preview and its status.
A footer explains the everyday moves: edit the .local.md file to change a rule, set enabled: false to switch it off, delete the file to remove it, run /hookify to add a new one. Edits apply right away, no restart involved.
With no rules present the command suggests creating the first one through /hookify or by hand, and shows a sample invocation. It relies on the Glob, Read and Skill tools, and loads the hookify:writing-rules skill first so it can parse the rule format. Point it at a project without any .claude/hookify.*.local.md files and the table comes back empty — that is the expected result, not a failure.
What it helps with
- see which hookify rules are active in a project
- spot rules that are switched off and stay silent
- locate the file behind a specific rule before editing it
- review events and patterns before writing a new rule
- learn the rule format on a project that has none yet
Example prompts for the agent
- List the hookify rules configured in this project
- Which hookify rules are enabled and which are disabled?
- Show me a table of hookify rules with their patterns and files

Questions about list
How do I install list in Claude Code?
Run /plugin install hookify@claude-plugins-official, which places the command file at .claude/commands/list.md.
What does list do?
It gathers the hookify rules from .claude/hookify.*.local.md and renders them as a table with name, status, event, pattern and file, followed by message previews and editing tips.
What does the command need to run?
The Glob, Read and Skill tools, plus the hookify:writing-rules skill it loads first. On a project with no rule files it offers to create the first rule instead.

# List Hookify Rules
**Load hookify:writing-rules skill first** to understand rule format.
Show all configured hookify rules in the project.
## Steps
1. Use Glob tool to find all hookify rule files:
```
pattern: ".claude/hookify.*.local.md"
```
2. For each file found:
- Use Read tool to read the file
- Extract frontmatter fields: name, enabled, event, pattern
- Extract message preview (first 100 chars)
3. Present results in a table:
```
## Configured Hookify Rules
| Name | Enabled | Event | Pattern | File |
|------|---------|-------|---------|------|
| warn-dangerous-rm | ✅ Yes | bash | rm\s+-rf | hookify.dangerous-rm.local.md |
| warn-console-log | ✅ Yes | file | console\.log\( | hookify.console-log.local.md |
| check-tests | ❌ No | stop | .* | hookify.require-tests.local.md |
**Total**: 3 rules (2 enabled, 1 disabled)
```
4. For each rule, show a brief preview:
```
### warn-dangerous-rm
**Event**: bash
**Pattern**: `rm\s+-rf`
**Message**: "⚠️ **Dangerous rm command detected!** This command could delete..."
**Status**: ✅ Active
**File**: .claude/hookify.dangerous-rm.local.md
```
5. Add helpful footer:
```
---
To modify a rule: Edit the .local.md file directly
To disable a rule: Set `enabled: false` in frontmatter
To enable a rule: Set `enabled: true` in frontmatter
To delete a rule: Remove the .local.md file
To create a rule: Use `/hookify` command
**Remember**: Changes take effect immediately - no restart needed
```
## If No Rules Found
If no hookify rules exist:
```
## No Hookify Rules Configured
You haven't created any hookify rules yet.
To get started:
1. Use `/hookify` to analyze conversation and create rules
2. Or manually create `.claude/hookify.my-rule.local.md` files
3. See `/hookify:help` for documentation
Example:
```
/hookify Warn me when I use console.log
```
Check `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/examples/` for example rule files.
