search-specialist · wshobson — Claude Code subagent: research and install
A web research subagent that filters sources and cross-checks facts. Use it for deep research, competitive analysis, and trend work.
/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
/plugin install content-marketing@claude-code-workflowsWhat search-specialist does
search-specialist creates several search query variations, starts broad, then narrows the results. It can use exact phrases, negative keywords, time ranges, and domain filters. This fits research tasks that need source collection, trend analysis, or fact checking.
The subagent extracts content from promising pages, parses structured data, and follows citations and references. Its output can include the research method, source URLs, credibility assessments, contradictions, structured summaries, and follow-up recommendations. The frontmatter sets the model to haiku.
Install it when a project needs a dedicated web researcher that can synthesize findings. For a simple one-off lookup with no source comparison, it is more than you need.
What it helps with
- build several search queries for one topic
- filter results by trusted domains
- cross-check claims across sources
- assemble a competitive analysis
- track contradictions in research findings
Example prompts for the agent
- Research this topic across several sources and return findings with source URLs.
- Compare these products, verify the key claims, and flag contradictions.
- Find historical information on this subject, try several query variations, and assess source credibility.
