MCP servers for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor
Agent connections to databases, browsers, GitHub and services via Model Context Protocol.
Nothing here yet: cards appear once a checked description is ready.
An MCP server is a program that gives the agent tools over the Model Context Protocol: querying a database, driving a browser, working with GitHub, reading documentation. It runs locally as a process (stdio) or remotely over HTTP. The agent sees its list of tools and calls them as the task requires.
Every agent configures it differently. Claude Code: claude mcp add name -- command or claude mcp add --transport http name URL, with project servers in .mcp.json. Codex: codex mcp add or an [mcp_servers.name] table in ~/.codex/config.toml. Cursor: .cursor/mcp.json. VS Code: .vscode/mcp.json with a servers key instead of mcpServers. Zed: context_servers in settings. The JSON snippet from one agent README rarely works in another without edits.
A server runs code on your machine or talks to the network with your keys, so check who wrote it and what access it asks for. Commands per platform: how to add an MCP server. How it differs from skills: skills vs MCP.
