Subagents for Claude Code, Codex and Cursor

Separate roles with their own prompt and tools: reviewer, tester, architect.

Nothing here yet: cards appear once a checked description is ready.

A subagent is a separate role with its own system prompt, its own tool set and, if you want, its own model. The main agent hands it a task; the subagent works in a fresh context and returns the result. A code review or a search across a large repository then stays out of your main conversation.

In Claude Code a subagent is a Markdown file in .claude/agents/ for the project or ~/.claude/agents/ for every project. The frontmatter needs name and description, and Claude uses the description to decide when to delegate. Optional fields include tools, model and permissionMode. The file body becomes the prompt.

Cursor and Copilot in VS Code read .claude/agents/ as is. Codex has its own format: TOML files in .codex/agents/ with name, description and developer_instructions. Gemini CLI reads Markdown from .gemini/agents/. How to write and call one: Claude Code subagents.
