Ontario's regulated iGaming market set a new monthly handle record in July 2026, with wagering reaching CAD 9.88 billion. That is CAD 300 million above the previous high in March and 31% higher than July 2025. Gross gaming revenue came to CAD 413.6 million, the second-highest on record after December 2025 (CAD 426 million) and 33% up year on year.
The province collected roughly CAD 83 million in tax at the 20% rate on GGR. For the first seven months of 2026, tax revenue totalled CAD 553 million on combined GGR of CAD 2.76 billion. Active gaming accounts neared 1.37 million, up 44% from July 2025 and 3.5% from June. Average revenue per account dropped to CAD 303, the lowest since February.
Online casino remains dominant: it accounted for 89% of total handle (CAD 8.78 billion, a record) and 80% of GGR (CAD 330.4 million, also a record). Sports betting fell below CAD 1 billion amid the summer lull but still rose 44% from July 2025, helped by the World Cup. Canada exited the tournament on 4 July with a 0–3 loss to Morocco. Sports GGR reached CAD 77.8 million (+47% year on year), the lowest since March 2026.
Forty-eight licensed operators ran 83 sites in July. DAZN Bet launched on 30 June and Hard Rock Bet on 22 July. Peer-to-peer poker remains niche at around 1% of both handle and GGR, with both metrics down more than 10% year on year. iGaming Ontario figures exclude activity on state operator OLG's platform.
