‘Exceptional growth’ in Americas supports Playtech H1 growth, Sun Bingo business impacts B2C revenue

Playtech reported revenue up 10% in the first half to €425.1m, driven by its B2B business in North America. Revenue from the US and Canada climbed 161% year-on-year to €56.9m, supported by the Hard Rock Bet partnership in Florida and games built on Past Motor Racing technology. The company expects those figures to normalise in coming quarters.

Latin America revenue rose 29% to €100m, boosted by new player inflows during the World Cup. The Mexican audience doubled compared to the 2022 tournament. Overall B2B revenue increased 14% to €394.8m, with adjusted EBITDA up 75% to €128.1m.

The UK was the only market to contract, down 8% to €59m. Playtech attributed the decline to client changes and the increase in Remote Gaming Duty. Europe excluding the UK grew 2%. Regulated markets accounted for 83% of B2B revenue, up 21 percentage points year-on-year.

CEO Mor Weizer said the company will keep investing in regulated jurisdictions but will not exit unregulated markets that may licence in future. He said Playtech's regulated revenue share exceeds 85%.

B2C revenue fell 22% to €32m following last year's sale of Snaitech and Happy Bet. The main remaining asset is the Sun Bingo white label in the UK; in March the company flagged a review of that business due to rising taxes. Playtech expects to reach profitability in the US this year.
