Licensed operators in Sweden reported combined turnover of SEK 7.4 billion ($776 million) in Q2 2026, up 5.1% year-on-year. Regulator Spelinspektionen defines turnover as player stakes minus payouts.
Online gaming and sports betting accounted for SEK 4.96 billion, growing just over 7% year-on-year. State lotteries and slot machines contributed SEK 1.43 billion, flat against the prior year. Public benefit gaming — lotteries and bingo halls — brought in SEK 863 million; bingo hall turnover held around SEK 51 million.
Land-based commercial gaming, mostly restaurant casinos, posted SEK 73 million, up nearly 13% from SEK 64 million a year earlier. State operator Svenska Spel recorded zero turnover for the period after its last venue, Casino Cosmopol, closed in 2025.
Self-exclusion and unlicensed sites
Enrolment in the national self-exclusion register Spelpaus.se dropped 0.7% over the quarter, reaching just under 138,000 by period end. In April Spelinspektionen introduced stricter technical connection rules for operators: unique IDs and tighter verification. The system launched after the 2019 market reform and came under fire last year following a data breach exposed in a documentary series.
As of 30 April the regulator counted 2,186 active unlicensed sites serving Swedish players. Influencers remain the main channel for promoting unlicensed operators. Spelinspektionen had previously flagged affiliate networks and link farms redirecting traffic to unlicensed casinos. Online gambling channelisation fell one percentage point to 84% in 2025, down from 86% in 2023.
