Caesars Sportsbook will pay a $251,250 fine and forfeit $45,465 in profits after settling responsible gambling violations in New Jersey. The agreement with the state's Division of Gaming Enforcement covers multiple compliance failures.
The regulator found the operator used signage that omitted required language. New Jersey rules mandate placement of the tagline 'Bet With Your Head, Not Over It' or similar wording alongside the 1-800-GAMBLER hotline number. Caesars also failed to submit daily self-exclusion lists to the DGE, a mandatory reporting obligation.
The company allowed players to request permanent self-exclusion through its online platform. New Jersey requires anyone seeking lifetime exclusion to appear in person. Another violation: self-excluded customers were permitted to place wagers through other Caesars platforms.
Beyond the monetary penalty, Caesars agreed to surrender $45,465 in profits tied to the violations. The DGE warned that further incidents will trigger additional disciplinary action, with sanctions imposed even for minor breaches.
The case underscores how tightly New Jersey enforces responsible gambling standards. Operators must meet disclosure requirements, follow self-exclusion procedures and maintain reporting discipline. The state remains one of the strictest US jurisdictions on sports betting compliance.
