Cambodian authorities revoked or suspended licences for 72 casinos during a year-long crackdown on cybercrime. Between July 2025 and the end of June 2026, the regulator inspected 195 licensed operators.
Nineteen companies lost their licences for involvement in online scams, while 30 received temporary suspensions. Another 23 casinos ceased operations after their permits expired.
Authorities also inspected 665 sites linked to online fraud: 582 were used for criminal activity, 83 served as hideouts. A total of 537 locations were sealed. Prosecutors received 268 cybercrime cases involving 2,773 individuals, of whom 2,200 were remanded in custody. Over the same period, 21,100 foreign nationals from 38 countries were deported.
The government is preparing a new round of inspections across all casinos. Results will determine whether licences are renewed or cancelled. Operators have been ordered to tighten premises control, strengthen access systems and expand video surveillance. The regulator warned that any connection to online scams or other crimes will result in licence revocation.
Pressure on the industry is mounting — Cambodia has become a hub for illegal call centres and POGO schemes in Asia. The crackdown may reshape the market: some operators will leave the jurisdiction, while those remaining face stricter compliance.
