Argentina collects $81 million in online gambling tax revenue, surpassing all of 2025

Argentina's revenue and customs agency ARCA reported ARS 123.856 billion ($81 million) in indirect tax receipts from authorised online betting and gambling platforms for January to September 2026. The nine-month figure already exceeds the full-year total for 2025.

That compares with ARS 93.658 billion collected for the whole of 2025, a gap of ARS 30.198 billion. Empiria estimates the receipts equal 0.03% of GDP, a figure the consultancy's economist Lucas Tettamanti cited in a post on X. Adjusted for inflation, growth over the nine months comes to roughly 42% in real terms.

July was the peak, at ARS 17.798 billion, the highest nominal monthly result of the year and the period when the decisive stages of the 2026 World Cup were played. August brought ARS 16.975 billion and September ARS 17.255 billion. September inflation is estimated at 1.8%.

ARCA reports a separate 'cash bets' category, which the agency told El Cronista is a specific tax on betting activity, meaning slots. It produced ARS 56.962 billion over the nine months, so total receipts from regulated gambling run above the online-only figure. For operators and affiliates in Argentina, the numbers work as a read on legal platform turnover, and the July spike shows how much a major tournament moves it. Whether the next big competitions repeat that will show in ARCA's coming monthly reports.
