Argentina’s San Juan province prepares tender for five online gambling licences

San Juan, an Argentine province, is preparing a tender for five online gambling licences, with the Caja de Acción Social (CAS) drafting the specifications. Juan Pablo Medina heads the regulator. No date has been set for applications to open.

The province has no licensed online operator today. The tender follows law 2724-P, passed on 12 December 2024, which covers online casino, sports betting and other digital gambling formats in San Juan.

Licence requirements

Applicants must show technical and financial solvency, incorporate a local legal entity, and meet tax and AML obligations. A licence runs for up to ten years, with a possible five-year extension. Operators need the .bet.ar domain, which is reserved for approved Argentine licensees.

The rules require biometric verification and geolocation, to keep out minors and restrict access by geography. Licensees must hold player accounts, record deposits and withdrawals, and follow responsible gambling requirements.

Shared self-exclusion

San Juan is negotiating with Mendoza and San Luis on a single self-exclusion database. Someone who voluntarily blocks gambling in one province would be unable to enter a casino or register with a licensee in another. The draft agreement is ready, but further meetings are needed. Integration after signing would take 60 to 90 days.

Fee levels, monthly payments and the final tender terms have not been disclosed.
