Asia Gaming eBrief: Cambodia plans nationwide casino checks

Cambodia will inspect all licensed casinos starting this month to enforce the ban on online gambling and verify compliance with license terms. The move follows years of weak enforcement despite an official prohibition on internet wagering.

Regulators plan to audit every casino in the country, targeting operators who use land-based licenses as cover for online activity. The crackdown reflects a regional shift toward active enforcement. Thailand blocked 945,075 gambling domains in fiscal 2026. Singapore streamlined approval for casino marketing by adding pre-cleared language to a whitelist. Macau recorded 1.14 million visitor arrivals during the seven-day Golden Week holiday in October.

For operators and affiliates working Southeast Asia, the inspections signal a compliance reset. Declaratory bans are giving way to enforcement on the ground.
