Google Ads is rolling out automatic extraction of deals and promo codes from advertiser websites. The system will scan landing pages, identify eligible offers and turn them into promotion assets for Search and Performance Max campaigns without manual input.
Previously, advertisers added promo codes to ad extensions by hand. Now Google crawls the site, finds active promotions and applies them to ads automatically. The feature covers two campaign types: Search campaigns will display promo codes in text ads, while Performance Max will pull offers into creatives on its own.
Control and opt-out
Automatic promotion extraction is enabled by default for eligible accounts. Advertisers can disable it at campaign level if they prefer not to let Google parse their site for deals. Full control remains available: you see which codes the system found and can block individual offers or turn off automatic collection entirely.
For affiliates and arbitrage buyers, this means Google may start showing promo codes in ads without your knowledge if you are driving traffic to offers that display them. Check whether this conflicts with your affiliate programme terms.
What to do
First, open your active campaigns and check the status of automatic promotion assets. If you run exclusive codes for different traffic sources, disable the feature manually. Second, make sure your landing pages do not expose promo codes meant for email subscribers or closed segments — Google parses everything visible, so hide restricted codes via robots.txt or dynamic loading. Third, watch your stats. Automatic promotion assets may lift CTR but drag down ROAS if they attract untargeted traffic.
