Swedish regulator temporarily revokes Charm Entertainment AB’s casino licence following investigation

Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen has temporarily revoked the licence of land-based casino operator Charm Entertainment AB. The company must cease all gambling activity immediately. The decision, issued on 1 October 2026, remains in force until a final ruling or until 1 April 2027.

Spelinspektionen opened its investigation on 27 May 2026, examining compliance with the Gambling Act and the operator's tax and accounting records. The regulator reviewed annual accounts for 2023 through 2025 and materials from a criminal case heard in Södertälje District Court.

Connection to Lucky 21 Casino

Current and former executives at Charm face serious criminal charges, including accounting fraud linked to Lucky 21 Casino AB. Both companies operate in close proximity and share staff. The regulator believes violations at Lucky 21 may have carried over into Charm.

Spelinspektionen found major discrepancies in Charm's filings: two different sets of accounts were submitted for 2023. Given the severity of the charges and the risk that violations would continue, the regulator decided to halt operations to prevent the licence being used for criminal activity.

The suspension runs for up to six months and may be extended for another six. The decision can be appealed.
