Google has added a generative AI tool to its Ads platform for localising search campaigns. Advertisers can now adapt ad copy, keywords, images and landing pages for new markets without manual translation work.
The feature sits inside the Ads interface. Select a source campaign, pick a target language, and the system creates a localised version. It handles ad headlines and descriptions, keyword sets adjusted for local search behaviour, visuals suited to regional context, and landing page text. The tool does not translate word-for-word — it accounts for how users in different countries phrase their queries.
Speed over setup cost
The tool solves the main friction in international scale: launch time. Entering a new market used to take weeks for translation, keyword adaptation and creative testing. A campaign can now go live within a day.
Affiliate teams running offers across several countries, e-commerce projects testing new regions quickly, and SaaS services validating demand all gain from faster deployment. If a campaign works in one country and a neighbouring market has similar demand, you can test the hypothesis without localisation overhead.
AI handles straightforward translation well, but cultural nuance remains weak. Humour, idioms and local references need manual revision. Technical products, financial services and SaaS translate cleanly. Content with wordplay, slang or emotional triggers requires review. Automated translations may also miss advertising regulations specific to each country — Germany has strict rules for healthcare, France for finance.
Market entry, not market dominance
For arbitrage, the tool lowers the barrier to new GEOs. Faster testing of funnels, quicker scale into adjacent markets, and lower spend on translators. But if everyone runs identical AI translations, competition intensifies faster. First movers with solid localisation get an edge. The fifth entrant with the same template buys expensive traffic.
While the technology is new, speed gives an advantage. In six months, only manual refinement will matter: testing local creatives, adapting the offer to cultural specifics, working with micro-influencers in the region.
Check whether your Google Ads account has access. Take a working campaign from your main GEO, translate it into a neighbouring country's language, and run it on a minimal budget. Compare CTR, conversion rate and CPA to the source campaign. If metrics hold, scale. If they drop, revise creatives manually and test different angles. For serious market entry, AI translation is not enough — you need a local domain, adapted checkout, and support in the audience's language. But for a quick demand check, the tool works.
