What is today's date

The date, large enough to read across the room. Below it: the weekday, which day of the year this is, the ISO week number and how many days the month has left.

How to use it

  1. Open the page. The date is already there, read from the clock on your own device.
  2. Need a different day? Pick it in Another date and every number below recalculates.
  3. Copy the date puts the full line on your clipboard: weekday, day, month, year.

Where the number comes from

From your device, not from us. The page reads the system clock of the browser that opened it, so the answer matches the clock in your menu bar and stays right in whatever time zone you are in. Nothing is requested from a server, which also means the page keeps working with the network off.

The week number follows ISO 8601: weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the one containing 4 January. That is the convention European business calendars use, so the number lines up with a sprint plan or a shipping schedule rather than with a wall calendar that starts counting on 1 January.

What the chips under the date mean

  • The weekday, written out.
  • The day number in the year: 1 January is day 1, and 31 December is day 365 or 366.
  • The ISO week number.
  • How many days are left until the month ends, or a note that today is the last of them.

Questions

What is today's date?

The large number at the top of this page is the day of the month, and the line under it spells out the full date with the weekday. It is taken from your own device clock, so it is correct for wherever you are.

Can I look up a date that is not today?

Yes. Pick any day in the Another date field. The weekday, the day of the year, the week number and the days-left count all recalculate for it.

Does the page know my time zone?

It uses whatever your device reports, which is the same thing your operating system clock shows. If you travel and your phone changes zone, this page changes with it.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The date is computed in the tab. Nothing about your visit, your time zone or the dates you look up leaves the browser.
