X MCP guide — Claude Code skill: features and installation
This skill guides agents through X connections and MCP tools. Use it when an agent needs to read X data or work with chats, lists, and calls.
npx skills add cursor/plugins --skill x-mcp-guide -a claude-code
npx skills add cursor/plugins --skill x-api-mcp-guide -a claude-codeWhat X MCP guide does
X MCP guide sets out how to connect to X’s hosted MCP server through OAuth. It covers profile and post reads, search, news, trends, Spaces, communities, lists, chats, calls, and livestreams. Public reads do not require the user to connect an X account; account-specific data and actions do.
The skill maps errors to next steps, including when to reconnect the X plugin and when to stop. An unchanged request should not be retried after an authorization error. Access uses the X OAuth connector, so the agent must not request a password, API key, or Bearer token. Posting and starting a livestream in real time are unsupported.
What it helps with
- connect an X account through the OAuth connector
- diagnose why X tools are unavailable
- search X posts, accounts, news, or trends
- read chats and manage X lists
- check scheduled calls and livestreams
Example prompts for the agent
- Search X posts about this topic and count the results.
- Check which X tools are available and explain the connection error.
- Show unread X Chat messages and message requests.
