understand-anything-knowledge-graph — Claude Code skill: code graph
Runs a multi-agent pass over your project, builds a graph of files, functions and dependencies, then opens an interactive dashboard for exploring it.
npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill understand-anything-knowledge-graph -a claude-codeWhat understand-anything-knowledge-graph does
Five agents work in order. project-scanner finds the files and detects languages and frameworks; file-analyzer pulls out functions, classes and imports as graph nodes and edges; architecture-analyzer sorts those nodes into API, Service, Data, UI and Utility layers; tour-builder writes ordered learning routes; graph-reviewer checks that references hold up. The result lands in .understand-anything/knowledge-graph.json at the project root.
/understand-dashboard then serves a React and Vite app. The React Flow canvas is colour-coded by layer, any node opens in an inspector with its code and relationships, and search covers the whole graph. Guided tours follow dependency order, and a persona switch changes how much detail you see, for a junior developer, a PM or someone who knows the stack. Each node carries a plain-language summary generated by the model.
Asking questions works through /understand-chat <question>. /understand-explain <path> goes deep on a single file, and /understand-diff lists the nodes hit by uncommitted edits, so the ripple shows up before you push. Building the plugin from source takes pnpm and the three pnpm --filter … build steps; the Claude plugin marketplace route skips all of that.
What it helps with
- map out the files, functions and dependencies of an unfamiliar project
- trace every caller of a given function
- see what uncommitted changes touch before pushing
- hand a newcomer a walkthrough of how the code fits together
- get a step-by-step explanation of one file or function
Example prompts for the agent
- /understand
- /understand-dashboard
- /understand-explain src/auth/login.ts
