typst-paper — Claude Code skill for editing Typst papers
A skill for working on existing Typst manuscripts. Diagnoses builds, checks bibliographies, cleans grammar and AI traces in English and Chinese papers.
npx skills add bahayonghang/academic-writing-skills --skill typst-paper -a claude-codeWhat typst-paper does
typst-paper takes an existing Typst project and routes the request to the smallest useful module: compile, format, bibliography, grammar, logic, tables, pseudocode. Each module is a Python script run with uv run python from the project directory. The scripts read .typ files and return a diagnosis, not a rewrite — the agent does the rewriting.
The skill handles English and Chinese, so it also covers translation between the two. Pseudocode review supports algorithmic, algorithm-figure and lovelace blocks; bibliography validation covers BibTeX and Hayagriva. Venue formatting is tagged for IEEE, ACM, Springer and NeurIPS.
There are limits. LaTeX-first projects are out of scope — .tex needs a different skill. It does not plan papers from scratch or do literature research, only edits what is already written. Scoring and gate decisions belong to paper-audit. You need uv and Python on the machine.
What it helps with
- diagnose a Typst compile error
- validate BibTeX and Hayagriva against the manuscript
- restructure related work from a list into comparison and gap
- strip AI traces from English or Chinese prose
- check cross-references and numbering
Example prompts for the agent
- check references.bib against main.typ
- run check_format.py on main.typ for IEEE
- the related work reads like a list — rebuild it around themes, comparison and gap
