typescript-review — Claude Code skill: review TS/JS
Reviews TypeScript and JavaScript changes against Metabase coding rules. Use it for pull requests or diffs that include TS or JS files.
npx skills add metabase/metabase --skill typescript-review -a claude-codeWhat typescript-review does
The skill reads the full diff, new files, tests, and helpers. It checks changes against typescript-write, frontend/CLAUDE.md, and the frontend developer guide. Violations of typescript-write take priority, while explicit or implicit any in edited code is treated as blocking.
It reviews types, function signatures, null and undefined handling, naming, structure, and comments. For tests, it compares setup, actions, and assertions with the behavior being claimed. Checks that did not run or did not cover the change are reported as unverified rather than passed.
The review also covers accessibility, performance, security, bundle size, analytics, and the public API of the embedding SDK. It can use Read, Grep, Bash, Glob, and Skill; when TypeScript LSP tools are available, it inspects inferred types. The blocking any rule is a reason to inspect every edited area, including code that otherwise passes automated checks.
What it helps with
- review a TypeScript or JavaScript diff
- find explicit or implicit
anyin edited code - check changes against Metabase coding rules
- verify tests cover the claimed behavior
- flag accessibility and bundle-size issues
Example prompts for the agent
- Review the current TypeScript and JavaScript diff against Metabase rules, and rank the findings by priority.
- Inspect the new files and tests in this pull request. Check `any`, type handling, and `null` or `undefined` cases.
- Review the changed React code for accessibility, performance, security, and embedding SDK API issues.
