What token-dashboard-claude-analytics does

This skill guides the assistant to inspect project logs written to ~/.claude/projects/. It scans raw JSONL records, measures prompt expenditure, and indexes details into a local SQLite database at ~/.claude/token-dashboard.db. Network access is unnecessary because every query runs strictly on the host.

The tool spins up a browser UI on port 8080 and provides CLI commands for quick terminal summaries. It highlights repetitive file reads, cache performance, and project comparisons based on rates defined in pricing.json. Running the dashboard requires Python 3.8+; without the runtime, the server fails to launch.

What it helps with

  • track token expenses for individual prompts
  • identify heavy tool invocations across sessions
  • check prompt cache hit percentages
  • aggregate spend comparisons across multiple codebases

Example prompts for the agent

  • show me my Claude Code token usage
  • find expensive prompts in Claude Code
  • set up the local cost interface for my sessions
