What shopify-onboarding-merchant does

The skill guides a store owner through Shopify CLI installation and the first connection step. It checks shopify version, then offers npm installation or the Homebrew route on macOS. After setup, it asks whether to create a new store or link an existing one.

For a new store, the flow opens Shopify’s trial signup page. An existing store is identified through https://admin.shopify.com/store/{handle} or {handle}.myshopify.com. The skill normalizes the handle and runs shopify store auth, which opens a browser session and waits for the merchant to approve the permissions.

Node.js is needed when neither npm nor Homebrew is available. The authentication flow needs Shopify CLI 3.93.0 or newer, so older CLI installations need an upgrade first.
