scientific-writing · davila7 — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Writes research papers in standard IMRAD format using continuous prose, verified citations, and schematic workflows.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill scientific/scientific-writingWhat scientific-writing does
The skill sets up Claude Code to draft peer-reviewed manuscripts following CONSORT, STROBE, or PRISMA reporting standards. The authoring follows two steps. It drafts outlines using research-lookup, then turns those bullet points into continuous paragraphs. The final paper forbids bulleted lists.
It handles standard IMRAD sections, summaries between 100 and 250 words, and citations styled in APA, AMA, Vancouver, IEEE, or Chicago. A manuscript requires at least one schematic built via scripts/generate_schematic.py. Without an active Python environment, producing those mandatory diagram assets will fail.
What it helps with
- Organize research drafts into the standard IMRAD structure
- Convert bulleted notes into complete, flowing manuscript paragraphs
- Format citations according to APA, AMA, or Vancouver guidelines
- Align clinical and review methodology with CONSORT, STROBE, or PRISMA
Example prompts for the agent
- Outline and draft the introduction section following IMRAD guidelines.
- Turn these study notes into full paragraphs without any bullet points.
- Format all bibliography entries and inline citations according to Vancouver style.
