project-health-check — Claude Code command: overview & install
Runs git and dependency checks to build a markdown project health report with a 0 to 100 score. Useful before sprint planning or major releases.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command project-management/project-health-checkWhat project-health-check does
The command inspects your repository using Read, Bash, Grep, and Glob tools. It checks commit counts with git log, ranks contributors via git shortlog, and scans dependency files like package.json, requirements.txt, or Cargo.toml.
The resulting markdown document breaks down code quality, delivery metrics, team work distribution, and outdated packages. Security checks trigger npm audit or equivalent tooling. If your git history has fewer than 30 revisions, the diff inspection fails with a fallback warning, so the command needs an established repository to produce meaningful output.
What it helps with
- calculate a health score from 0 to 100 for your repository
- track contributor distribution and commit frequency over time
- scan dependencies for outdated packages and vulnerabilities
- generate structured markdown metrics tables for sprint reviews
Example prompts for the agent
- /project-health-check --30-days
- /project-health-check --sprint
- /project-health-check --quarter
