reddit — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Search Reddit through its public JSON API for posts, comments, subreddit details, and user profiles.
npx skills add ReScienceLab/opc-skills --skill reddit -a claude-codeWhat reddit does
This skill calls Reddit's public JSON API to retrieve subreddit posts, search results, community details, individual posts with comments, and user profiles. It fits requests that mention Reddit, a subreddit, or an r/ link.
It includes get_posts.py, search_posts.py, get_subreddit.py, get_post.py, and get_user.py, run with python3 from the skill directory. Post feeds support hot, new, top, rising, and controversial sorting; some sorting modes also accept a time range.
No API key is required. The public API has a 100 requests/minute limit, so bulk retrieval needs to account for that cap.
What it helps with
- retrieve hot or new posts from a subreddit
- search Reddit posts by a phrase
- fetch a post with its comments
- inspect subreddit details
- check a user profile and recent posts
Example prompts for the agent
- Find Reddit posts about

pythonsubreddit. - Get post
abc123with its comments.
