What x-post does

The skill triggers a local Python script at ~/.claude/skills/x-post/x-post.py to interact with the X API. It requires Python packages xdk and requests_oauthlib, alongside a credentials file located at ~/.claude/skills/x-post/x.key. Without valid API tokens stored in that JSON file, every request will fail immediately.

The script handles plain text updates, image attachments, and video uploads, detecting file types from extensions automatically. Video files rely on chunked upload steps, meaning larger video posts may take up to a minute to process. It also includes a me subcommand to inspect the authorized profile.

Safety instructions prevent unapproved posts: the agent must display the exact text draft and obtain explicit user consent before calling the publish command.

What it helps with

  • publish release notes to X directly from your coding session
  • attach screenshots or demo videos to tweets from the command line
  • verify the active X account credentials via the CLI profile check
  • preview and confirm draft tweet copy before sending it live

Example prompts for the agent

  • Post a tweet saying 'Shipped version 2.0' with ./preview.png attached
  • Publish this update to X with video ./demo.mp4
  • Check my current X profile info using x-post
