qwen-agent — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
A skill that routes mechanical edits to a cheap Qwen subagent through claude-9arm, leaving Claude's quota for work that needs judgement.
npx skills add thananon/9arm-skills --skill qwen-agent -a claude-codeWhat qwen-agent does
The skill turns delegation into a habit. Bulk renames, formatting passes, test scaffolding, grep-style searching: that work gets handed to claude-9arm, a shell alias for claude --model qwen3.6-35b-a3b sitting behind the 9arm gateway. Calls run headless with -p, and the tool list is pinned by --allowedTools Bash Read Edit Write Glob Grep. Leave the flag off and the subagent stalls at its first edit, waiting on approval.
Prompts must stand alone, because the Qwen side sees nothing of your chat. Absolute paths, stated inputs and outputs, one line on what done means. Qwen works with a 128k context window, so size the job before sending it: file bytes divided by 4 is a rough token count. Big tasks get sliced per file or per directory and fired as separate runs, foreground or background with a log to read later.
Set one thing up first: the claude-9arm alias with gateway access. The skill does not create it. And read Qwen's output before calling a task done — cheap edits need a second pair of eyes more than expensive ones do. Architecture, debugging judgement and security-sensitive changes stay with Claude, which the skill states plainly.
What it helps with
- rename a symbol across the whole tree
- run the linter and report which checks failed
- condense a build log into errors with line numbers
- scaffold docstrings and test stubs
- swap a known string everywhere it appears
Example prompts for the agent
- Use qwen: in
/Users/me/proj/src/api.tsdrop unused imports and sort the rest alphabetically. Touch nothing else. - Delegate this — collapse
/tmp/build.loginto errors with line numbers. - Do this cheaply: rename
getUsertofetchUserunder/Users/me/proj/src.

Questions about qwen-agent
How do I install qwen-agent in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add thananon/9arm-skills --skill qwen-agent -a claude-code. The skill lands at ~/.claude/skills/qwen-agent/SKILL.md.
What does qwen-agent do?
It sends bounded mechanical work to a Qwen model through claude-9arm instead of spending Claude tokens on it. Renames, formatting, search and summarising, plus builds and tests with a pass-fail report.
Why does the subagent stop and wait for approval?
The --allowedTools Bash Read Edit Write Glob Grep flag is missing. It pre-approves those tools so an unattended job can finish; without it the first edit triggers a permission prompt. The alias bakes in --allowedTools '*', which Claude Code ignores, so your own list is the one that applies.
