power-bi-retail-analytics-dashboard — Claude Code skill
This skill helps an agent build and tune a Power BI retail dashboard for sales, profit, regional views, forecasts, and KPI alerts.
npx skills add reason-machines/data-skills --skill power-bi-retail-analytics-dashboard -a claude-codeWhat power-bi-retail-analytics-dashboard does
The skill works with the SalesPulse 360 project. It turns retail sales data into an interactive Power BI report with views by region, product category, customer segment, and time period. Users can move from summary metrics to individual transactions, use a 12-month forecast, and receive alerts when selected KPI limits are crossed.
Its setup combines a star-schema model, Power Query transformations, and DAX measures for sales, margin, year-over-year change, and customer retention. Alert values can be changed through the ConfigSettings table. The project also supports scheduled refresh through Power BI Service and localized currency and date formats.
Power BI Desktop version 2.120 or later is required. Publishing the report and running scheduled refreshes requires a Power BI Service account, and moving the CSV file means updating its source path in Power BI.
What it helps with
- build a retail Power BI report from sales data
- compare profit across regions and product categories
- add a 12-month sales forecast
- configure margin and return-rate alerts
- trace a metric from a summary view to one transaction
Example prompts for the agent
- Build the SalesPulse 360 dashboard from the sales data and break profit down by region.
- Set up a 12-month sales forecast in Power BI and alert on the margin and return-rate limits.
- Inspect the data model and DAX measures, then prepare the report for Power BI Service publishing.
