What paper2code-arxiv-implementation does

The skill takes an arXiv URL or paper ID and outputs a Python project. You can choose minimal or full mode. PyTorch runs by default. Passing --framework switches the target to JAX or TensorFlow.

Every run generates src/ modules, configs/base.yaml, and REPRODUCTION_NOTES.md. Inline tags reference paper equations. When papers omit parameters, the skill inserts [UNSPECIFIED] tags rather than guessing.

Review every audit note first. The skill isolates unverified assumptions, so training without checking them risks silent failures.

What it helps with

  • translate ML paper architectures from arXiv into runnable PyTorch code
  • audit missing hyperparameters and vague formulas across paper sections
  • generate educational notebooks with tensor shape verifications
  • scaffold data pipelines and training loops from research publications

Example prompts for the agent

  • /paper2code 1706.03762 --mode full
  • /paper2code 2106.09685 --mode educational

Questions about paper2code-arxiv-implementation

How to install paper2code-arxiv-implementation in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill paper2code-arxiv-implementation -a claude-code. The file will be placed in ~/.claude/skills/paper2code-arxiv-implementation/SKILL.md.

What does paper2code-arxiv-implementation do?

It converts an arXiv paper into a documented Python codebase. Every critical code block links directly to the specific equation and section from the original text.

Which frameworks and modes does the skill support?

PyTorch and architecture-only mode run by default. You can override them with --framework jax or --framework tensorflow, and request full training loops using --mode full.
