memo-builder — Codex skill for investment memos
Draft or review formal memos on public equities, with valuation, scenarios, risks and a recommendation. Use it for committee papers, research notes or PM updates.
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill memo-builder -a codexWhat memo-builder does
memo-builder turns evidence and analysis into a formal public-equity memo, and can revise or check an existing one. It covers valuation, scenarios, risks, catalysts and recommendations. Depending on the report and chosen format, the deliverable can be a DOCX or HTML document.
The skill includes scripts/build_memo_package.py to create a DOCX and HTML companion, or an HTML report with a DOCX companion. It selects relevant material from company filings, internal research and market estimates, among other source categories. For formal committee, PM, client or research circulation, DOCX is the recommended format.
This workflow does not construct trades or set position sizes. Credit-first memos belong in Credit Markets; credit analysis can feed into a memo when the final subject is common or listed equity.
What it helps with
- assemble research into an investment committee memo
- revise a draft equity memo
- review valuation claims and risk framing
- synthesize model, scenario and earnings analysis
Example prompts for the agent
- Draft a committee memo on this public-equity investment.
- Review this memo’s valuation, risks and supporting evidence.
