marp-slide — Claude Code skill: Marp decks in 7 themes
Turns a rough outline into a Marp slide file and picks a fitting look along the way. Handy when you need a deck, not markup.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill creative-design/marp-slideWhat marp-slide does
The skill picks a theme first, then copies a template from assets/. There are seven: template-basic.md, template-minimal.md, template-colorful.md, template-dark.md, template-gradient.md, template-tech.md, template-business.md. Each file carries its own CSS, so nothing external gets linked.
Reference files drive the rest. references/marp-syntax.md covers the Marp basics, references/image-patterns.md handles picture placement, references/best-practices.md sets layout rules. Structure follows those rules too: a lead slide via _class: lead, three to five bullets per slide, room around each block. Images use Marp syntax such as .
Vague asks like “make it look cool” are handled without follow-up questions: the theme comes from the content, titles get trimmed, dense slides are split. One catch — the guide sets titles at 5–7 characters, a length chosen for Japanese. In English or Russian that count turns headings into stubs, so budget more characters per title.
What it helps with
- produce a Marp slide deck without hand-writing the layout
- match the visual style to a dev talk or a corporate report
- place a diagram beside text or behind a full slide
- tighten a messy draft into readable slides with breathing room
- split a wall of lecture text across several slides
Example prompts for the agent
- Build a ten-slide deck on HTTP caching and save it to
presentation.md - Make slides for my Rust meetup talk, tech styling
- Make it look good from my draft in
lecture.md

Questions about marp-slide
How do I install marp-slide in Claude Code?
Run npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill creative-design/marp-slide. Alternatively use npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill marp-slide -a claude-code. The skill file then lives at ~/.claude/skills/marp-slide/SKILL.md.
What does marp-slide do?
It writes a Marp Markdown file using one of seven built-in themes. It also tidies the content: shorter headings, fewer bullets, more spacing, and image layouts picked to fit.
Do I need Marp installed to use the skill?
No — the skill only produces a .md file whose template already contains the styling. Converting it to PDF or HTML is a separate step done in Marp CLI or an editor.
