kimi-pdf — Claude Code skill: build PDFs and process existing ones
A skill that turns HTML into PDF with Paged.js, compiles LaTeX, and works with existing files: extract text, merge, split, fill forms.
npx skills add thvroyal/kimi-skills --skill kimi-pdf -a claude-codeWhat kimi-pdf does
The skill picks one of three routes based on what you ask. Plain requests like a report or a paper go to HTML, which is the default. Say LaTeX, .tex or Tectonic and you get the LaTeX route. Existing PDFs go through the process route: reading, extracting, merging, splitting, filling forms.
The HTML route covers KaTeX formulas, Mermaid diagrams, three-line tables and citations. Citation style follows the document language: GB/T 7714 for Chinese, APA for English, and in a mixed document each reference list gets its own format. Cross-references to figures, equations and sections are clickable through a container id.
Before writing any code the skill insists you read the route file, because the implementation details live there rather than in the main description. Dependencies differ per route: HTML needs Node.js, Playwright and Chromium, PDF processing needs Python 3 with pikepdf and pdfplumber, LaTeX needs Tectonic. Run pdf.sh check to see what is missing, then pdf.sh fix to install it.
What it helps with
- build a PDF paper or report from HTML
- add KaTeX formulas and Mermaid diagrams to a document
- format citations in GB/T 7714 or APA style
- pull text out of an existing PDF
- merge or split several PDF files
Example prompts for the agent
- turn this text into a PDF report with a cover page
- build a paper PDF with KaTeX formulas and an APA reference list
- extract the text from
report.pdfand merge it withappendix.pdf
