What indicator-designer does

indicator-designer helps build indicator sets for MEL and SRHR work. It separates output, outcome, and impact measures, then defines each candidate with a name, meaning, numerator or count, denominator where relevant, data source, and measurement frequency. Disaggregation covers age, gender identity, disability, geography, and other relevant groups.

The skill assigns Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 status and links indicators to WHO, SDG, donor, and related frameworks when applicable. Its output includes an indicator table, an intersectionality note, measurement and quality-assurance details, tier distribution, data-gap flags, and limits on what the set can show.

The request needs the measured result, programme context, and measurement purpose. Country or region, population, and programme scale are part of that context, so leaving them out weakens the indicator design.

What it helps with

  • build an MEL/SRHR indicator set
  • classify measures as output, outcome, or impact
  • define numerators, denominators, and data sources
  • add subgroup disaggregation and Tier 1/2/3 markers
  • flag data gaps and limits in interpretation

Example prompts for the agent

  • Design indicators for this outcome and classify each one as output, outcome, or impact.
  • Audit these results framework indicators and add definitions, data sources, frequency, and disaggregation.
  • Adapt this indicator set for the target population, then flag missing data and explain how each measure will be collected.

Questions about indicator-designer

How do I install indicator-designer in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add gasserane/personal-skills --skill indicator-designer -a claude-code, then check ~/.claude/skills/indicator-designer/SKILL.md.

What does indicator-designer do?

It designs and audits MEL/SRHR indicators, distinguishes outputs, outcomes, and impacts, defines measurement details, and flags data gaps.

What information does indicator-designer need?

It needs the result being measured, programme context with country or region, population, and scale, plus the measurement purpose. Existing indicators and data constraints can be added as optional context.
