godot-project-templates — Claude Code skill for Godot scaffolds
Choose template scripts for a Godot genre scaffold and route gameplay work to a matching skill. Useful when setting up project architecture and startup order.
npx skills add thedivergentai/Game-Dev-Agentic-Skills --skill godot-project-templates -a claude-codeWhat godot-project-templates does
Pick a genre, load its listed scripts, then hand gameplay systems to the relevant godot-genre-* skill. A platformer scaffold includes base game manager, level, actor, and state-machine scripts; RPG and FPS setups add their own components. Treat these as structures to adapt, not code to drop into a project unchanged.
The skill sets a startup sequence: bootstrap_config.gd prepares configuration and networking before audio and UI. Pause-menu nodes need PROCESS_MODE_ALWAYS, since pausing the scene tree also stops their processing. For PCK-based DLC, use modular_dlc_loader.gd; platform-dependent features use platform_feature_config.gd. Without the right process mode, a pause menu can stop receiving input.
What it helps with
- choose starter scripts for a platformer, RPG, or FPS
- set the startup order for configuration and game systems
- keep pause menus processing while gameplay is paused
- load PCK-based DLC through a template script
- separate platform-dependent features with feature tags
Example prompts for the agent
- Set up a Godot scaffold for a 2D platformer and list the template scripts to load.
- Check the Godot bootstrap order so configuration and networking run before audio and UI.
- Point me to the templates for PCK-based DLC and the skill for implementing gameplay systems.
