fix-sentry-issues — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Triages production Sentry errors through Sentry MCP and resolves underlying software defects. Fits investigations of error spikes and Sentry noise cleanup.
npx skills add brianlovin/agent-config --skill fix-sentry-issues -a claude-codeWhat fix-sentry-issues does
This skill guides coding assistants through a structured three-step debugging workflow. During triage, the agent queries unresolved issues via Sentry MCP and classifies them strictly as Investigate or Ignore. Extension errors and transient browser issues get dismissed immediately. Noise gets filtered out before code changes begin.
Investigation focuses on one issue at a time. The agent inspects full event payloads, checks traceId records in Axiom, and inspects the execution chain leading to the crash. Rather than masking failures with quiet fallback logs, it traces upstream to see why invalid parameters reached the function.
Each fix receives a dedicated Git branch and regression tests built from production event parameters. Without an active Sentry MCP server, the skill cannot query issues or update their status.
What it helps with
- triage unresolved Sentry incidents and filter noisy extension failures
- trace crash origins upstream using stack traces and Axiom logs
- write regression tests reproducing production error payloads
- prevent bad arguments from reaching failing internal functions
Example prompts for the agent
- Triage our latest Sentry errors and investigate recurring production bugs
- Investigate the root cause for this Sentry issue and create a fix branch
- Clean up Sentry noise and filter out browser extension errors

Questions about fix-sentry-issues
How to install fix-sentry-issues in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add brianlovin/agent-config --skill fix-sentry-issues -a claude-code in your terminal. You can also save the file directly to ~/.claude/skills/fix-sentry-issues/SKILL.md.
What does fix-sentry-issues do?
It provides a disciplined process to fetch Sentry issues, ignore noise like third-party extension crashes, and trace root causes in the codebase. The assistant then writes reproducing tests and fixes the defect in an isolated branch.
What prerequisites are required for fix-sentry-issues?
You need a working Sentry MCP server configured in your environment. For deeper event trace inspection using traceId, the Axiom CLI tool is also used.
