eol-process — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Guides product sunset workflows across every phase, from initial decisions to post-mortem reviews. It helps retire software while keeping customer trust.
npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill eol-process -a claude-codeWhat eol-process does
The skill maps out a complete retirement workflow for software or standalone features. It structures the process into six distinct checkpoints: decision, stakeholder alignment, scheduling, internal team preparation, customer notices, and a final wrap-up review. The workflow scales to match scope. A minor feature wraps up in days, while regulated hardware spans quarters.
You can start at any phase along the way. If a team already announced a sunset and support channels are overwhelmed, the workflow acts as a diagnostic to pinpoint skipped steps. It defaults to Level 2 intensity, suited for active commercial offerings.
Applying Level 3 to every sunset creates needless bureaucracy that slows down simple changes. To begin, provide the product name and current status in the retirement lifecycle.
What it helps with
- structure an end-to-end product sunset across teams
- diagnose skipped steps when an existing retirement runs into trouble
- align legal, sales, and executive stakeholders before announcing
- prepare customer-facing teams with internal answers before public notices
Example prompts for the agent
- Guide our team through retiring the legacy billing API from scratch after making the shutdown decision.
- Our customer announcement went out two weeks ago and support tickets spiked, help us find what was missed.
