domain-name-brainstormer · davila7 — Claude Code skill: domain ideas
Generates domain name ideas for your project and checks which ones are free across several TLDs. Handy when you are naming a new product or rebranding.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill utilities/domain-name-brainstormerWhat domain-name-brainstormer does
The skill reads your project description and who it is for, then suggests names. Each option comes with a short note on why it works: length, how easy it is to say, how well it hints at the product.
Availability gets checked across several zones at once — .com, .io, .dev, .ai, .app and others. When the obvious picks are gone, you get alternatives plus rough pricing: standard domains around $10-15 a year, .io and .ai around $30-50, taken ones at market price.
The TLD choice is not random either. A developer tool gets .dev suggestions, an AI product gets .ai. You also get a top pick and a runner-up at the end. Registering the name stays your job, though — the skill only tells you what is free.
What it helps with
- name a domain for a brand-new project
- check whether a name is free in .com, .io, .dev
- find alternatives when the first choice is taken
- pick a domain for a personal brand or portfolio
- compare pricing across standard and premium TLDs
Example prompts for the agent
- I'm building a code collaboration tool, suggest domain names
- Give me short .ai domain ideas for a writing assistant
- Check if
