docs-search · davila7 — Claude Code skill: search your codebase docs
A skill that searches auto-generated project documentation: function signatures, classes, interfaces. Handy before you touch code, so you stop guessing at APIs.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill ai-maestro/docs-searchWhat docs-search does
The skill sets a habit for the agent: take the instruction, look through the docs, then write code. Queries can be semantic, an exact keyword match, or a filter by document type. One more command pulls the full text of a document once you have its id.
Indexing lives here too. docs-index.sh builds the index for a whole project, while docs-index-delta.sh picks up only new and changed files. docs-list.sh and docs-stats.sh show what is already indexed and how much of it there is. The index covers functions from JSDoc, RDoc and docstrings, classes, modules, TypeScript interfaces, React and Vue component comments, README files and the contents of the docs/ folder.
AI Maestro has to be running locally with documentation already indexed. Without it the commands have nothing to query. The doc tools come from a separate step: clone the ai-maestro-plugins repository and run install-doc-tools.sh.
What it helps with
- confirm a function signature before calling it
- look up a class by name and read its description
- check a TypeScript interface before writing the implementation
- refresh the index after edits without rebuilding everything
- see which documents made it into the index
Example prompts for the agent
- Search the docs for the authentication flow
- Find the keyword
UserControllerin the documentation - List every document of type class
