What deslop does

The skill inspects project modifications by running git diff main...HEAD. It scans altered files to catch typical synthetic artifacts. Redundant explanatory notes disappear. The routine strips unneeded try/catch wrappers on trusted code paths, eliminates casts to any, and relocates inline Python imports up to the file header.

Legitimate feature logic remains untouched while formatting is brought in line with adjacent code. Once cleanup finishes, the agent delivers a brief summary spanning one to three sentences. The hardcoded call to main means the tool breaks if your repository uses a different primary branch name.

What it helps with

  • delete redundant explanatory comments from modified files
  • strip excessive try/catch safeguards along trusted codepaths
  • remove loose any casts introduced during generation
  • relocate nested Python imports back to the top of the file

Example prompts for the agent

  • Clean up AI code slop in this branch before opening a PR
  • Review changes against main and remove unnecessary defensive checks
  • Run deslop to fix style inconsistencies across modified files
