cc-skill-coding-standards — Claude Code skill: coding standards
A skill that hands Claude a fixed set of rules for TypeScript, JavaScript, React and Node.js work: naming, immutability, errors, API shape.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill development/cc-skill-coding-standardsWhat cc-skill-coding-standards does
Install the skill and Claude picks up a written rulebook for the code it writes and edits. The document covers code quality (readability, KISS, DRY, YAGNI), TypeScript and JavaScript conventions, React patterns, REST API design and project layout.
What the rules actually say: name variables and functions so the intent is obvious, update objects and arrays with spread instead of mutating them, run independent async calls together with Promise.all, keep every API reply in one ApiResponse<T> shape, validate request bodies with a zod schema. On the React side you get typed props, custom hooks such as useDebounce, and state updates that read the previous value.
The skill is framework-agnostic and carries no project config. Teams that already run their own linter and naming rules will find the two sets disagreeing, so decide which one wins before you wire it in.
What it helps with
- settle naming for variables and functions in a new module
- strip direct mutations of objects and arrays
- give every API response the same structure
- validate incoming request bodies against a schema
- pull repeated logic into a custom hook
Example prompts for the agent
- Rewrite this module to follow the skill's standards — no mutations, clearer names
- Check the error handling in
fetchDataagainst the skill rules - Lay out the components and hooks the way the skill describes

Questions about cc-skill-coding-standards
How do I install cc-skill-coding-standards in Claude Code?
Run npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill development/cc-skill-coding-standards, or use npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill cc-skill-coding-standards -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/cc-skill-coding-standards/SKILL.md.
What does cc-skill-coding-standards do?
It gives the agent a rulebook for TypeScript, JavaScript, React and Node.js: naming, immutability, error handling, parallel requests, types, API response format and file layout.
Which projects is it meant for?
The rules are described as universal, with no tie to a single project. The examples inside use TypeScript, React and a Next.js REST API.
