npx skills add reason-machines/trending-skills --skill autoresearch-genealogy -a claude-codeWhat autoresearch-genealogy does
autoresearch-genealogy gives Claude Code a structured workflow for genealogy research. It covers family-tree expansion, source comparison, unresolved people, document analysis, and research questions. The package includes 12 prompts, an Obsidian vault template, archive guides, methodology notes, and workflow files.
The files are grouped under prompts/, vault-template/, archives/, reference/, and workflows/. Start by entering known relatives in vault-template/Family_Tree.md, then run prompts such as /autoresearch prompts/01-tree-expansion.md or /autoresearch prompts/02-cross-reference-audit.md. The templates keep people, certificates, sources, and open questions in separate records.
There is no package manager or build step: the project uses Markdown files and prompts. You need Claude Code and either an Obsidian vault or another Markdown folder for the research files.
What it helps with
- expand a family tree from archival sources
- compare conflicting facts across records
- organize genealogy notes in an Obsidian vault
- audit source coverage for people
- extract information from scanned certificates and letters
Example prompts for the agent
- Use
prompts/01-tree-expansion.mdto extend the family tree fromvault-template/Family_Tree.md. - Run
prompts/02-cross-reference-audit.mdand check the tree against its sources. - Work through the open genealogy questions with
prompts/08-open-question-resolution.md.
