The plugin wires an MCP server into your agent so it can work with DOCX files. Two ideas carry it. First, HTML and DOCX convert both ways: the model writes HTML and the server turns that into a document. Second, editing is surgical — you point at one paragraph, table or row instead of rewriting the whole file. That keeps token use below what you get from unzipping a docx and touching document.xml.
Capabilities cover reading text and comments, building a new file (an existing DOCX can serve as the template, and its styles carry over), adding tracked changes, and posting or replying to comments. Everything runs offline, so the documents stay where they are.
Installation on Claude goes through the plugin marketplace. Once it is in, add a line to CLAUDE.md telling the agent to use legalrabbit-docx-mcp for reading, creating and manipulating docx files — skip that and the agent may reach for other tools on the same file.
