gitlab — Claude Code plugin: repos, MRs and CI/CD
Wires GitLab into Claude Code so the agent can work with repositories, merge requests, pipelines, issues and wikis without leaving the chat.
/plugin install gitlab@claude-plugins-official
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-officialWhat gitlab does
The plugin gives Claude Code access to GitLab as a DevOps platform. The agent browses repositories, reads and comments on merge requests, checks CI/CD pipelines, works with issues and opens wiki pages. If your code lives in GitLab rather than GitHub, this closes the gap — no tab-switching just to see whether a build passed.
Install it from Anthropic's official marketplace: add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-official, then run /plugin install gitlab@claude-plugins-official. License is Apache-2.0, published by GitLab.
You'll need access to your GitLab instance — a token and the server address. Without them the agent hits an auth wall on the first API call, so sort that out before asking it to touch a repository.
What it helps with
- check pipeline status without opening a browser
- review a merge request diff and leave a comment
- find an issue by its description
- read a project wiki page
- see what state the repo branches are in
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me the open merge requests in the backend project
- Why did the last pipeline on main fail?
- Find issues labeled bug in GitLab and list them
