TLE Satellite Tracker — Claude Code MCP server for orbital data
Gives your agent live two-line element records: search satellites by name or pull a single record by number.
claude mcp add --transport sse tle-satellite https://tle.ivanstanojevic.me/mcpWhat TLE Satellite Tracker does
TLE Satellite Tracker is an MCP server in front of the TLE API, serving two-line element sets as JSON. Records refresh daily from CelesTrak, so the agent reads current orbital elements instead of a stale snapshot.
Two endpoints do the work: GET /api/tle?search={query} matches a satellite by name, and GET /api/tle/{id} returns one record for a satellite number. The server is remote — it speaks SSE at https://tle.ivanstanojevic.me/mcp, so there is nothing to run locally and no API key to obtain.
Make sure your client supports the SSE transport. Codex has no ready install command here, so you wire the connection up yourself. Cursor and GitHub Copilot take a JSON block in their MCP settings file.
What it helps with
- look up a satellite number by name before an orbit calculation
- fetch current TLE data for one specific object
- check orbital elements against the daily CelesTrak refresh
- feed orbital elements into a script without copying them by hand
- build a shortlist of satellites from a search term
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the TLE record for the Hubble satellite
- Show orbital elements for satellite number 25544
- Search the TLE catalog for Starlink satellites
How to install TLE Satellite Tracker
Platform CLI: remote server
claude mcp add --transport sse tle-satellite https://tle.ivanstanojevic.me/mcpCodex
Codex connects MCP servers over stdio and streamable HTTP only, and this server speaks SSE

Questions about TLE Satellite Tracker
How do I install TLE Satellite Tracker in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport sse tle-satellite https://tle.ivanstanojevic.me/mcp — that registers the remote SSE endpoint.
What does TLE Satellite Tracker do?
It hands your agent two-line element sets as JSON: name search and single-record lookup by satellite number. CelesTrak feeds it fresh data every day.
Do I need an API key?
No. The server talks to a public TLE API, so pointing your MCP client at the SSE URL is enough.
