What since-cutoff does

AI assistants frequently generate outdated function signatures because their training cutoff precedes your dependency updates. This tool inspects pinned packages against the releases published prior to the model's training threshold. It reviews public interfaces statically. Outdated parameters get flagged directly in your codebase.

Running sync records targeted guidance inside AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md. These notes prevent coding agents from submitting removed keyword arguments during edits. Standard scanning runs locally without consuming external model credits. Keep in mind that older formats like setup.py and setup.cfg are ignored.

What it helps with

  • identify Python calls broken by library releases newer than model cutoffs
  • record API changes into AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md for coding assistants
  • compare locked dependencies against historical packages statically

Example prompts for the agent

  • Run since-cutoff to check if our Python dependencies use methods that changed after the model cutoff
  • Update AGENTS.md with new signature notes by running since-cutoff sync
