pdfops-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Enables AI agents to inspect form fields, fill AcroForms, combine files, and produce invoices through a lightweight cloud API without local headless browsers.
claude mcp add --transport http pdfops-mcp https://pdfops.dev/api/mcpWhat pdfops-mcp does
This MCP server connects models to the PDFops cloud engine so you do not need Chromium or local binaries. Five specific tools handle document pipelines: pdf_inspect finds field keys and types, pdf_fill populates forms, pdf_merge combines files in specified order, pdf_invoice builds deterministic billing sheets from parameters, and pdfops_usage checks the remaining quota.
When running on a local desktop, tools consume standard file system paths, keeping raw binary streams out of the prompt window. On hosted runners, the server also accepts web links starting with https:// or base64 data payloads, returning files inline when destination paths are omitted.
Because operations depend on https://pdfops.dev, an active internet connection is mandatory. Requests will fail on files larger than 4 MB, and unauthenticated usage is capped at 100 requests per IP each month.
What it helps with
- inspect AcroForm inputs before submitting form data
- fill out agreements and templates with structured values
- combine multiple PDF documents into a single packet
- create clean invoices directly from line-item numbers
Example prompts for the agent
- Inspect all editable fields inside ~/documents/application.pdf.
- Populate ~/templates/tax-form.pdf with my user details and save the output.
- Merge cover.pdf and report.pdf into a consolidated document.
