OpusClip — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Cuts long videos into captioned vertical clips, builds thumbnails, and schedules social posts directly from your agent. Runs remotely with OAuth.
claude mcp add --transport http opusclip https://mcp.opus.pro/mcpWhat OpusClip does
OpusClip runs as a hosted MCP endpoint over HTTP with OAuth authentication. No API keys are required. On the first tool call, a browser tab prompts you to log into the service and grant permissions. The server takes a video file or link, finds engaging moments, and reframes footage to vertical.
Available tools handle transcripts, styled captions, and social media text with hashtags. You can also send ready clips directly to connected social accounts. Another function checks remaining account credits.
Clients lacking remote HTTP support can use the npm or PyPI proxy launchers. Running the package with uvx still requires Node.js 18 or newer in your PATH.
What it helps with
- turn long video recordings into short vertical clips
- generate styled subtitles and extract speech transcripts
- draft platform-ready captions, hashtags, and thumbnail options
- queue ready clips directly into connected social media schedules
- check available balance and subscription usage limits
Example prompts for the agent
- Extract vertical highlight clips with captions from
interview.mp4. - Create social post copy, hashtags, and a thumbnail for the top clip.
- Check how many credits are remaining on my OpusClip account.
