What project-to-linear does

The command reads project description or README, splits it into major components (epics), parent tasks and subtasks with acceptance criteria. Assigns labels (frontend, backend, testing, documentation), priority and effort estimates to each task. Builds dependency graph and critical path.

Works through Linear MCP server: before running, the command checks workspace access. Output is a complete Linear project structure with epics, nested tasks and timeline.

Command arguments: project description, --team-id (Linear team ID), --create-new (create new project), --epic-name (epic name).

What it helps with

  • break project requirements into epics and tasks
  • create task hierarchy in Linear with dependencies
  • assign labels, priorities and effort estimates
  • build project critical path
  • sync project structure to Linear workspace

Example prompts for the agent

  • Create Linear task structure for the project from README.md
  • Break the project into epics and tasks with backend label and priority
  • Sync project plan to Linear with --team-id TEAM-123
