What python-pro does

python-pro starts by inspecting the Python project: its layout, dependencies, virtual environment, style rules, tests, and type-checking setup. It then follows the project’s existing conventions when implementing changes. The workflow includes type hints, dataclasses, Protocol, generators, context managers, and custom exception handling.

For I/O work, the subagent uses async/await and AsyncIO. Its web stack includes FastAPI, Django, Flask, SQLAlchemy, and Pydantic. It can also work with pytest, mypy, ruff, Black, and Bandit, while accounting for Poetry, venv, or pip-tools configuration found in the project.

Install it when Python work needs deliberate typing, tests, and quality checks. For a small isolated edit, this subagent may be more process than you need.

What it helps with

  • build a typed Python web API
  • untangle async I/O in an existing service
  • add pytest coverage for edge cases
  • run mypy, ruff, and Bandit checks
  • model data with Pydantic and SQLAlchemy

Example prompts for the agent

  • Inspect this Python project, then build an async FastAPI endpoint that follows its existing patterns.
  • Review the `services` module, fix its type errors, and add pytest cases for edge conditions.
  • Find the bottleneck in data processing, consider generators, and run a Bandit security check.
