Rank Group closed its financial year ending June 30 with revenue of £834.1m, up 6% year-on-year. Operating profit rose 21% to £78.6m. All divisions have now grown for five consecutive years.
Casinos and machines drive performance
Grosvenor Casinos generated £397.3m in revenue (+5%) and £35.5m in profit (+11%). Gaming machines contributed 11% more, with average weekly revenue across the estate reaching £7.6m (+5%). Footfall and spend per visit both increased. During 2025/26 Rank installed 850 machines across 37 casinos; optimising their performance remains a priority. Table games were hit by the Middle East conflict in the second half.
Mecca closed nine loss-making venues, but bingo revenue grew 4% to £143m and profit doubled to £8.9m. Investment in gaming machine areas and external signage paid off. The digital channel added 8%.
Tax hit and outlook
Remote Gaming Duty in the UK rose from 21% to 40% on April 1, 2026. Rank responded by cutting above-the-line marketing while keeping free bets and player promotions. Chief executive Richard Harris said the medium-term target is operating profit of at least £100m. The group paid over £225m in tax last year.
Harris warned that new tax proposals from anti-gambling campaigners threaten the industry. Higher levies on highly regulated, low-margin venues will close halls and reduce tax receipts.
